The GrandWay Lounge to open its doors for the first time to 50 patrons

On Wednesday March 24th, The GrandWay Events Centre will be opening its doors for the very first time to welcome guests to the Simulcast Bar and Lounge. In light of the recent announcement from Wellington Dufferin Guelph Public Health moving the region to an Orange zone, the Lounge will be allowed to host 50 patrons indoors. Strict Covid-19 protocols will still remain and guests will be required to sit in family groups, providing contact information for everyone in their party.

“It has been a long time coming but we are finally ready and able to share our new space with guests,” shares Jamie Martin, Director of Operations at the Grand River Raceway. “We are very proud of the building and the opportunity it provides to both community members and Horse Racing fans. We have been planning for this day for some time and look forward to providing an enjoyable and safe experience
in our new space.”

The GrandWay Events Centre is the latest in facilities at the Grand River Raceway. Owned and operated by Grand River Agricultural Society, the event centre provides a series of welcoming spaces for weddings,
parties and corporate events. Home also to the GrandWay Lounge which will broadcast simulcast racing and sporting events 7 days a week from noon until 10pm.

In the short term, guests will be able to social distance and enjoy racing and sports, with bar service until 9pm in accordance with government policy. The GrandWay Kitchen will open in a few weeks serving a pub menu during opening hours.

“We are excited to offer a simple but delicious bar menu, incorporating some of Chef Emma’s race night favourites, along with some new dishes featuring local ingredients,” says Katie Giddy, Director of Hospitality, Sales and Marketing at The GrandWay. She adds, “We have taken GRAS’s passion and commitment to local agriculture and included locally grown produce in all of our menus.”
